Degree Description:

This certificate program provides training for STEM graduate students in community-engaged research and scholarship related to rivers, watersheds, and communities.

Central to this program is the vision to transform graduate training from an “outreach-” oriented model to an “engagement-” oriented one, building on the extension model.

This certificate is for MS and PhD students in related physical, biological, and social sciences, and engineering, across all schools and colleges that may find the certificate valuable.

Students earn the Certificate via a combination of coursework and project-based work that includes an immersive, real-world project experience and the development and execution of community-engaged scholarship.

Admission Requirements:

Current WSU Master’s and PhD students are eligible to pursue the Certificate during any phase of their training, although we recommend that Master’s students be in the first year of their program.
