Dear Graduate Coordinators and Program Directors,
We are reaching out to you with an important update regarding applicants from the greater Los Angeles area.
As you are aware, the priority deadline for graduate applications was Friday, January 10th. However, in light of the recent wildfires and the significant disruption they have caused for residents of the LA area, the Graduate School strongly encourages programs to consider late applications from impacted applicants, even if January 10th was designated as a firm deadline. We believe that extraordinary circumstances such as this natural disaster warrant a compassionate and flexible response to support those affected.
Additionally, if your program’s application is currently closed and not accessible through the central application system, and you have received extension requests from potential applicants from the LA area, we can assist in reopening the application. With your permission, we can reopen it for a specific, brief period. You can then inform the individuals who have contacted you about the opportunity to submit their applications during this window. We are ready to collaborate with you to implement any adjustments you would like to make.
If you would like to make any such change or otherwise need any assistance regarding applicants from LA, please email cas.support@wsu.edu with your request. If applicable, please include the exact date and time period you would like to reopen your application.
Thank you for your dedication to graduate education and for your understanding during these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Tammy Barry, Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost for Graduate Education
Raymond Herrera, Associate Dean and Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Enrollment Management
