The Graduate School announces the departure of Scott Avery, Director of Assessment, after 13+ years of dedicated service to the Graduate School at Washington State University. Scott is embarking on an exciting new chapter in his career as a Data Analyst with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL). During his time at WSU, Scott led graduate program assessments across the university system, providing comprehensive assessment training and managing assessment data collection and analysis initiatives. His expertise in research methods and statistical analysis has been invaluable in supporting graduate programs’ efforts to meet accreditation requirements and improve student learning outcomes.
Throughout his tenure, Scott has led numerous initiatives including the administration of biennial graduate student climate surveys, coordination of comprehensive program assessment reports, and management of the Graduate School’s assessment archive. His work has provided essential support for NWCCU accreditation requirements and helped ensure alignment between program-level assessments and institutional reporting standards. Scott’s ability to translate complex data into actionable insights has empowered graduate programs to make evidence-based improvements and strengthen their educational offerings.
Scott’s commitment to professional development and his collaborative approach to supporting faculty and staff have made him a trusted resource throughout the university. His consulting skills and systematic approach to complex projects have helped numerous graduate programs navigate assessment challenges while maintaining focus on student success.
