New Tools Streamline Program Setup, Improve Student Diploma Clarity, and Advance Digital Program of Study Initiative
The Graduate School has released updated guides for managing program plans and Degree Requirements in myWSU, enabling more precise student tracking and clearer diploma specializations while establishing the foundation for an automated Program of Study system.
Improved Program Plan Management
Graduate program coordinators now have access to streamlined processes for creating and managing program plan (or specializations) names in myWSU. These improvements ensure student specializations are accurately reflected on diplomas and transcripts. For example, Psychology Ph.D. students in Experimental or Clinical tracks will see their specific specialization clearly indicated on their diploma.

The system includes workflows for creating, revising, suspending, or discontinuing specializations through established Faculty Senate processes.
Comprehensive Degree Requirements Framework
The updated degree requirements process provides coordinators with a systematic approach to establishing both credit minimums and detailed course sequences. This two-part system ensures university compliance while offering program-specific flexibility.
Foundation for myWSU Program of Study
These enhancements improve data structure and create systematic requirement tracking necessary to create a future automated Program of Study.
Implementation Support
Graduate program coordinators can access comprehensive implementation guides through the Graduate School Knowledge Base. To support coordinators in implementing these improvements, the Graduate School will schedule regular Zoom office hours providing personalized guidance on making these updates.
