The Graduate Support Memo Form is used to process financial support for sponsored students and approved Graduate School commitments. The form must be submitted via myWSU. Refer to the details and instructions below.
Sponsored students are those who receive support from their department, funding from their home country, or through fellowships/grants. These students are typically not on assistantship.
Graduate Student Health Insurance: A Grad Support Memo may be submitted for full-time graduate research fellows/trainees who are paid a stipend of at least $800 per month and who are engaged in research similar to that of a research assistant.
The following graduate students are also eligible for the graduate student health insurance plan. Email student.insurance@wsu.edu with the request to enroll by the 13th day of classes.
- Students defending in the final semester of a degree program enrolled in 2-6 credits who were enrolled in the graduate insurance plan the previous semester.
- Students who have completed/submitted the Internship Leave form to the Graduate School and who were covered the previous semester (must be enrolled in at least 2 credits).
Log in to myWSU and navigate to the Main Menu. Click on WSU > Graduate School > Grad Support Memo.
- Guarantee Only Instructions: A guarantee only memo is to be used when the department/area is wanting to cover a specific component of a student’s direct charges. You can only use grant or gift accounts.

- Commitment Only Instructions: Commitment only memo is to be used only when tuition waivers have been committed to your department/area from the Graduate School. Please be sure to have your commitment number available (#GSxxxxC). View the Commitment only instructions (PDF).
- Guarantee & Commitment (combo) Instructions: You would submit this memo if you want to do both: Pay for some fees associated with the student and claim a Graduate School commitment. View the Guarantee commitment instructions (PDF).

- Support Memos can ONLY be submitted for one semester at a time and ONLY once the student is enrolled in the required number of credits and tuition has been calculated.
