Interested in becoming an EPIC trainer?
Help bring EPIC’s prevention-focused training to your department. EPIC trainers are equipped with the knowledge, facilitation skills, and resources needed to confidently deliver engaging, interactive trainings within their own departments.
EPIC Trainers are members of the WSU community who are prepared to facilitate EPIC training sessions for their departments. Trainers help bring EPIC’s prevention-focused content to their communities while creating space for meaningful discussion and learning.
As an EPIC Trainer, you will complete a train-the-trainer process that includes content familiarization, facilitation skill building, practice sessions, and your first training delivery. Trainers also have opportunities to receive feedback and continue developing their facilitation skills.
1. Identify your audience
Determine who you would like to train and connect with your department.
2. Coordinate with EPIC
Connect with the EPIC team to discuss your training and available dates.
3. Schedule your training
Work with the group to determine a date, time, location, and format.
4. Promote your training
Use EPIC-provided promotional materials to share information about the training and encourage participation.
5. Facilitate your session
Lead the training using the EPIC curriculum and resources.
6. Collect feedback
Participants complete a brief evaluation to help us understand their experience and continue improving EPIC training
EPIC Trainers will receive the materials and resources needed to facilitate EPIC training sessions, including:
- Training presentation and facilitator materials
- Activity and discussion resources
- Guidance for facilitating the training
- Training and preparation support
- Resources for promoting and scheduling sessions
- Opportunities for feedback and continued development
EPIC Trainers receive ongoing support from the EPIC team throughout the training process. An EPIC team member will be available to support trainers as they prepare for and facilitate their sessions.
For your initial training delivery, an EPIC team member will attend the session to provide support and help you feel confident facilitating the material.
Trainers can also connect with the EPIC team when they have questions, need resources, or want feedback on their training.
EPIC will provide promotional resources to help you share your upcoming training. Trainers may promote sessions through their department, email communications, newsletters, or other appropriate channels.
The EPIC team can provide guidance on messaging, registration, and communication to help you reach your intended audience.
Becoming an EPIC Trainer is the beginning of an ongoing learning process. As you facilitate trainings, you will have opportunities to receive feedback, refine your facilitation approach, and stay updated as EPIC materials evolve.
Trainers will remain connected with the EPIC team for ongoing communication, resources, and support.
