“Data Privacy and Security” vs. “Personal and Research Data Management”

Mike Kluzik, Director, Office of Research Assurances

 

A general overview of what every person, including graduate students, need to be aware of regarding data privacy and security will be presented.  Examples of information technology threats WSU typically sees and addresses will be given along with practical scenarios exemplifying the risks or challenges associated with data management.  Participants will also receive an overview of the governance systems established to protect their, as well as others, personal and research data.  The goal of the presentation is to provide general awareness of the potential data and security risks everyone should know about including a brief overview of the policies and resources available to mitigate those risks.
