Program Description
The Curriculum and Instruction specialization offers
graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral
degree levels. The specialization offers students
rigorous and individually tailored programs of study.
The Ed.D is designed to develop K-12 teachers,
administrators, and researchers for intellectual
leadership and practice in classrooms, schools,
districts, agencies, and colleges/universities. Through
research, students in Curriculum and Instruction
generate applicable knowledge as well as practical
recommendations and solutions for complex educational
challenges. The M.A. and Ed.M. degree programs are
designed for students with bachelor degrees who have an
interest in deepening their knowledge in a specific
content area (in or outside the College of Education)
as well as educational research in curriculum and
instruction. The master's degree programs also
emphasize applying research, theory, and evidence-based
practices to improve education. This specialization is
designed especially for secondary teachers who wish to
take courses in their teaching field as well as
advanced coursework in teaching and learning.
