SUMMARY:Free Graduate Grant Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the grant writing workshop is to serve as an introduction to the process of competitive proposal writing\, to current trends in grant making\, and to various skills and strategies that will enhance proposal writing success. The first session of this workshop will cover searching for and identifying funding opportunities\, contacting sponsors\, and developing a fundable idea. We will also cover research compliance issues and the institutional processing of a proposal. In the second session\, we will discuss the typical components and characteristics of a competitive proposal and organizational strategies. We will provide examples and discuss issues that are relevant to the various groups of people who may attend. The grant writing workshop will also discuss budgeting issues. This introductory workshop is primarily designed for graduate students\, but faculty\, administrative professionals\, staff\, community members\, and all those with limited grant writing experience are also welcome.  \nThis is an online workshop and accessible to all campuses. \nPlease contact Hannah Merley\, hannah.merley@wsu.edu for additional information. \n  \nVisit http://www.ogrd.wsu.edu/workshops.asp#240 to register. SUMMARY:STEM Education Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Share ideas\, define goals and activities\, and begin to develop a university-wide strategy for advancing STEM education at WSU. We expect to form 3-4 workgroups during this workshop for the purpose of pursuing substantial interdisciplinary grants to support STEM education initiatives\, including underrepresented and nontraditional student access to STEM education. The goal is to work collaboratively on evidence-based practices that will enhance and transform STEM education at WSU. \n10:15 and 10:45 sessions: Responding to the needs of STEM education to American Indian students \nLunch will be provided.
